This fall, Bluestem opened its gates to a group of sixteen pregnant broodmares in urgent need of care and rehabilitation. They arrived severely underweight and unhandled. With time, patience, and our cornerstone focus on education and compassionate care, the broodmare herd are steadily rebuilding their health and confidence.

Through structured nutrition, ongoing veterinary care, and consistent handling, each mare is steadily gaining strength, trust, and the confidence to engage safely with people. Their progress reflects Bluestem’s mission of helping horses and livestock heal, learn, and develop the foundations for lasting partnerships. As their recovery continues, we’ll share updates on their progress—each milestone a testament to the power of dedicated care and second chances.
